Put to: Rob Blood and Chad Sorensen.
Why it matters to buyers: Examine the proposed roles, not merely a payroll percentage. An October 10, 2026 employer posting for an area general manager covering La Playa Hotel and Hotel Carmel illustrates a shared-leadership structure in boutique hospitality. It is one operating example—not evidence of standard staffing or compensation. (hcareers.com)
Draft framing of a good answer: Request a weekly coverage model by function and demand level. Include minimum coverage, overnight responsibilities, maintenance response, management relief, vacations, training and opening or reopening needs.
Test proposed shared roles against travel time, competing peak periods and responsibility for emergencies. Ask which work is performed by employees, corporate teams, contractors or the owner, and where each cost is charged.
For labor savings attributed to technology, ask which task disappears, when the change becomes operational and what happens to service standards. Treat wage assumptions and applicable employment obligations as local diligence items.
Sharp follow-up: “If the general manager is absent for two weeks in peak season, who performs the work and where is that cost budgeted?”
Evidence to request: Organization chart, shift coverage, payroll burden, recruitment evidence and proposed service-level safeguards.
